The evolution of performance management and the debate surrounding the efficacy of this traditional management tool continue globally. When we examine how these developments are manifesting in Asia, we find things may be different than how they are manifesting in global multinational companies. Being able to hire, motivate and retain high-performing talent to fuel this growth is therefore crucial. The question for HR leaders has had to shift from “to rate or not?” or “to link performance rating with reward?” to “what do we hope to accomplish with our performance management system?”
